Tromsø is the largest city in Northern Norway, with about
41.000 inhabitants. Due to the global interest to experience the
Northern Light, the city has become a full year tourist
destination (pre and hopefully past covid). In 2022 it is
currently expected about 190 cruise ships to Tromsø where 39
is expected in the winter months and 41 in autumn (including
December)
The cruiseport is in the center of the city and has great view
over the famous Ishavskatedralen (the Arctic Cathedral).
In addition to chase the Northern Light, Tromsø offers reindeer
and dog sledging and snow mobile excursions in winter, whale
safaris and arctic fjordcruises all year.
In the city you will find the Polar Museum, Polaria (modern
aquarium and Arctic Museum), the Science Center of Northern
Norway and as mentioned the modern Arctic Cathedral. A trip
to the top of Fjellheisen gondola lift is recommended.
